June Wrap-Up

Summer reading is here! Time to sit by the pool or ocean (and my daughter’s splash pad) with a good book.

I read 6 books in June — and (almost) enjoyed them all! I am into the romance reads this summer and I am alllll about it! I discovered Abby Jimenez and Carley Fortune and boy am I glad. Ms. Jimenez, you are now one of my favorite authors!

Here’s what I read in June:

His & Hers by Alice Feeney

UM WELL FREAKIN’ DONE, MS. FEENEY! This book was CREEPY and dark as all heck and I kindddd of saw the twist coming but was still surprised at the end. What a book! Can’t wait to pick up more of her books.

Part of Your World #1 by Abby Jimenez

OK so I absolutely read this series out of order and I apologize mostly to myself but I am so glad that I discovered these books. I was just “meh” with Just for the Summer (at first) but then I read Part of Your World and then Just for the Summer made SENSE. So now I upped my Just for the Summer rating to a 4 start (definitely not my favorite of the series thus for … Part of Your World was great) so we shall see if Yours Truly lives up to the hype. It is so far!

This book just made me laugh, kept me entertained, and gave me butterflies. Well done, Abby.

The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

The fact that I most likely manifested Justin Timberlake’s arrest is one of my proudest moments. I sat in bed at 11 p.m. raging and hating JT and wishing him the illest of all the wills and then the next day BOOM! His world tour. Ruined.

But honestly, this memoir was really powerful and impactful. This poor woman. May her parents step on LEGOS barefoot for all eternity.

Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune

Eh. They can’t all be winners. This one was just OKAY. I really really enjoyed her other two books, but this plot was just a yawner and literally could have been resolved if the idiots just texted each other. And the reasoning behind it all? SO LAME. And Will? RED FLAGS LEFT AND RIGHT RUN GIRL, RUN!

Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson

This book was absolutely horrific. The characters? Insufferable. Flat. No depth. Not interesting. The plot? Nonexistent. Silly. Boring. This book was SUCH a snoozer. The fact that it has a “book sticker” is just sad. Bleh. No. Move on. Bye.

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune

Oh, Felix. What an adorable book! I really liked Lucy’s character and the back and forth she had with Felix. This is definitely a steamy one, so if you’re listening to this on audio, make sure to roll the windows up or warn your passengers just in case they overhear something spicy when you turn the car on!
