Goodness, I love reading so much.

I had a REALLY good reading month. I read a mix of thriller, magical realism, and romance. I may have discovered one of my all-time favorite books, and I’m happy to say that I can look Emily Henry in the eye again (not that I know her personally, but after Happy Place … yeeeesh).

Here’s what I read in April:

The Villa by Rachel Hawkins

I wasn’t too impressed with The Wife Upstairs by Hawkins (a Jane Eyre retelling always makes me nervous, and her retelling was just silly), but I did enjoy The Villa! It was a good, gripping read, and I didn’t see the twist at the end. I liked the entanglement of music and writing and loved the setting!

Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins

Libby had this one available so I thought, why not give her other books a go? Reckless Girls was … meh? A lot of wild, weird stuff happened in this one, but the ending was unexpected!

Weyward by Emilia Hart

*Hugs this one* I really, really liked Weyward. This story follows three unique, powerful, “weyward” women. It made me get in a witchy mood and feel that rush of love for the natural elements.

Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be by Dr. Becky Kennedy

I love Dr. Becky. I love her! I did the audio for this one and enjoyed it so much. There were a lot of emotions while reading this one, dear friends … I had to do some unlearning and learning and reaffirming. Being a mama is hard, but this book gives you the tools you need to do exactly what the title says: be the parent you want to be. I also HIGHLY recommend her podcast!!!!

The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young

And here’s a book that I cannot CANNOT stop thinking about. My goodness. Magical realism meets time travel meets romance. Goodness. My heart swelled at the witchiness of it and I cried cried cried at the end. I cannot wait to read Spells for Forgetting in May!

Funny Story by Emily Henry

Dear, Emily: Thank you for redeeming yourself after the disaster that was Happy Place. You’re back! I’m convinced she had someone ghostwrite Happy Place. Funny Story was fabulous and just the book I needed. It was funny and well-written. I loved the MC and loved Miles. He doesn’t replace my love for Gus (Book Lovers) but he comes pretty close …
