May Wrap-Up

I hit quite the reading slump this month, but still ended up finishing three books! I started a few this month that I didn’t end up finishing — either a DNF or putting down for now — and hope that June will be a more successful reading month!

Here’s what I read in May:

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

Whomp whomp. I really wanted to like this one, but there was just too much going on for my liking. The female MC, Emma, is insufferable. I don’t **get it** at all. Couldn’t keep all the drama straight. One of the plotlines was just weird and unnecessary and handled inappropriately.

One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware

Ruth Ware’s books are either a hit or a miss for me, and in this case, we were right in the middle. One Perfect Couple helped me get out of my slump but this book was just … meh? No fun twists and turns — what she thought was an interesting twist was just obvious … and it ended in quite a lame way. The characters were also super flat and I didn’t really care what happened to any of them.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Now this was a good one! It was just what I needed to scratch my Emily Henry-esque itch and dive into romantic summer reads. This book made me feel all sorts of nostalgic for first loves and summers when you were younger. There were some questionable plot points in this one, but overall, I enjoyed reading it!
